A scroll through the archives of Daughter’s most iconic piece
Some things never go out of style.
Since our very first collection in 2016, the Sunday Dress has become one of the most loved, most worn, and most remembered pieces in the Daughter wardrobe. Passed down between sisters, cousins, and friends; packed into suitcases for holidays; worn to birthday parties, kindy days, and quiet mornings at home. It's a silhouette that holds stories.
The Sunday Dress is one of our most timeless designs: typically in a classic sleeveless shape with a Peter Pan collar, twirly skirt and zipper back. Over the years, it’s been reimagined in soft linens, seersucker, broderie anglaise and cotton - with just the right prints, textures and colours to carry it into each new season. And yet, the essence remains unchanged. Always familiar, always treasured.
Below, we take a scroll through the archives, exploring the Sunday Dress over the years. Some are still worn and loved today. Others have long been outgrown, but live on in memory and in those lucky enough to have this dress passed down to them.
Fresh and Timeless Whites
There’s something endlessly classic about the white Sunday Dress. Whether in crisp cotton, soft linen, or textured natural stripes, these iterations have a way of feeling both crisp and nostalgic at the same time. They’ve been worn barefoot in backyards and dressed up with ballet flats and ribbons. They’re often the ones that get passed down the most, because every daughter needs a little white dress.
Our Sunday Dress, Natural Stripe can be shopped here.
On Rotation: Dusty Pink, Musk and Blush Tones
Perhaps our most beloved shade over the years, the pink-toned Sunday Dresses have made their way into family photos, weddings, and everyday life alike. Revived again and again across the seasons, in 100% linen, and varying lengths, these pieces quietly speak to our ethos: subtle, classic and effortless.
Versatile Prints: Checks, Grids, Stripes & Gingham
Timeless patterns for timeless dressing. From forest gingham to lemony seersucker stripes and structured checks, these playful editions of the Sunday Dress capture a feeling that never goes out of style. A little playful, a little vintage, and always easy to wear.
Hit Refresh: Our Limited Edition in French Blue
Crafted in limited numbers those who were lucky enough to secure our recent recut of the Sunday, in rich blue linen, will cherish this unique edition for years to come.
Crafted in a bold cobalt, this Sunday Dress was designed to be a striking take on our signature shape. It’s a reminder that timeless dressing can still feel fresh, and that bold can still be timeless.
Subtle Shifts in Shape
While the Sunday Dress is best known for its sleeveless silhouette, there have been seasons when we’ve gently reimagined it - adding a puffed sleeve, adjusting the length, or refining the fit. These thoughtful variations offered something a little different, while still honouring the original charm. Through every version, the essence has remained unchanged: timeless, playful, and deeply loved.
Forget Me Not
This Sunday Dress, in our exclusive Forget Me Not print, marked the quiet beginning of a new chapter at Daughter. Its gentle green tone and delicate floral motif quickly made it a favourite, becoming not only our best-selling colourway of the Sunday Dress, but one of the most beloved pieces in our entire history as a brand. A true modern classic, it perfectly reflects our commitment to timeless, meaningful design.

Still Worn, Still Loved
The Sunday Dress is still very much part of everyday childhood, just as it was when we first launched it. And while the colours may shift and the textures change, the shape, the spirit, and the purpose remain the same: to dress our daughters in pieces that feel special without needing an occasion.
Thank you to all the families who have made the Sunday Dress part of your story. We are endlessly grateful for every tag, photo, hand-me-down and memory made. We hope it continues to be a part of your world for many years to come.
